My Disney Experience App
Learn How to Navigate The Most Magical App:
Your Step by Step Guide
Before heading to any Disney Park, make sure you download the My Disney Experience app for your iPhone or Android, free from your app store. This app will be an important asset for planning your day, reserving meals and magical extras, and navigating the parks and attractions. Here is a step by step guide for getting you ready to plan your best day!
Download the App
Visit the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices).
Search for "My Disney Experience" and download the app. It’s a free app with no in-app purchases (unless of course you’re choosing to make a purchase at the parks, and you link a payment method to your profile).
Open the app and create a My Disney Experience account if you don't have one. If you already have an account, log in.
1
Link Reservations
Link your hotel reservation, park tickets, and any other reservations or purchases made through Disney to your account. This allows you to manage all aspects of your visit in one place.
To link reservations:
-
Tap on the three lines of the main menu (aka hamburger icon) in the lower right corner of the screen.
-
Tap on the “My Tickets & Passes” tile.
-
Scan the barcodes from printed tickets, tap to a MagicBand, type in the ID Number of your tickets, or link a Resort or dining reservation.
**Please note that purchasing park tickets no longer requires a reservation, whereas Annual Passes do in most cases, so this may affect how information is displayed in the "Future Plans” section of MDE.
2
Link Friends & Family
Add friends and family to your plans by scrolling down to “My profile”
-
Select “Family & Friends List”
-
Scroll down to “Add a Guest”
Find a guest by:
-
Your current connected guests
-
Search by entering name and age
-
Scan their linking code (found at the bottom of your main profile page)
Once added, they will appear in your friends and family list so you can make plans with them, including Genie Plus purchases, Lightning Lane selections, Magical Extras, Dining reservations, and more.

Plan Attractions & View Wait Times
My Disney Experience provides real-time information on wait times for attractions. This can help you plan your day and choose which attractions to visit.
To view Wait Times:
-
Tap the location icon on the bottom of your My Disney Experience app
-
The park map will appear with wait times hovering over the attractions
-
To narrow choices by park or activity, click “Filter” in the upper left corner
-
Make your selection and click Apply
-
Or tap “Show List” to display a list of attraction wait times, rather than an interactive map, which I personally prefer!
You can also filter wait times by activity, not just ride. Select the drop down icon next to "Wait Times", and select the category!
5
Lightning Lane & Virtual Queue
Some rides do not have Genie Plus or paid Lightning Lane+ options. Instead, you may join virtual queues for certain attractions, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Think of it like a boarding pass with a dedicated return time window. You have a 60 minute window to check in for the ride, beginning at the time of your virtual queue starting time.
You can join a Virtual Queue at 7:00am and 1:00pm. Once you have joined, your selection will appear in the "My Day" tab of in the "Rides, Shows & Lightning Lane Entry" tile. Your My Disney Experience app will notify you when it's time to make your way to your attraction!
If you opt to purchase Genie Plus, to make your Lightning Lane Selections:
-
Tap the hamburger icon in the lower right corner
-
Tap the "Rides, Shows & Lightning Lane Entry" tile (or Today's Plans under Mt Visit)
-
On the Tip Board tab, the available attractions and times will appear - simply select the attraction and time that you will be joining. Please note: The time may adjust based on availability from what you select, as other people who are making the same selection may overlap with your plans
-
Once you make your selection, your choice will appear in the "My Day" tab

Book Dining
Some dining locations offer mobile ordering to place your order and pay in advance, reducing the time you spend waiting in line. You can select the time window that will work best for you, and modify your arrival time if your plans change - ride breakdowns and delays always throw a wrench in your plans! Thankfully My Disney Experience is flexible to fit your changing needs throughout the day.
For Table Service:
-
Reservations can be made up to 60 days prior to your visit
-
Tap the "+" icon on the bottom of your My Disney Experience app
-
Select "Check Dining Availability" or
-
Tap the hamburger icon and select the Reserve Dining tile.
-
Most table service reservations can be modified within two hours of your arrival window, but make sure to check restaurant policies prior to booking
-
Select number of guests, date and time.
-
You can filter by location and expand your search to include multiple days
For Mobile Ordering:
-
Select "Order Food"
-
Make your dining selections.
-
When you arrive at the location, go to the "My Day" tab and tap on your order
-
Tap "I am here, prepare my food"
-
When the order is ready, you will be notified via alert to your MDE app or text message.
-
To Modify, Cancel, or change your pickup time, tap your order status on the "My Day" tab.
-
This is for Quick-Service restaurants at the parks and select Resorts restaurants for take-out (select menus apply).

Modify Lightning Lane Selections &
"Two Hour Rule"
Need to change your plans? Didn't get a return window that works for your day?
You can modify your Genie+ attraction reservations and dining plans in your My Disney Experience app.
-
Tap the hamburger menu in the bottom right corner of the screen
-
Scroll and select “Today's Plans”
-
Tap the “My Day” tab.
-
Press the "•••"
-
Select “Modify Plan” from the menu.
-
A new proposed time, if available, will appear
-
If that new time works, select "Switch to this time"
-
If that is not a time you would like to select, refresh until a time appears that does work
This is a great way to search for ride openings during the day, or to move your current plans to a time closer to your liking. This also works for mobile ordering if there is a delay on time slot availability.
What is the two hour rule?
You are limited to book one Genie + selection at a time in your My Disney Experience app (excluding paid Lightning Lanes). This rule has a two hour maximum, so if you book a ride at 9am that is not available until 3pm, at 11am (2 hours) your window opens to book a second Genie + selection - so you can book an additional ride without impacting your current selection.
