For many people, visiting a Walt Disney Resort is a once-in-a lifetime event. Rising costs of the theme parks, stressful travel, and the unsurmountable stress of aligning travel dates, flights, and hotels with friends and family costs time… and money!
If you are anything like me, you probably consider the value of what you are buying. Have you ever heard of the term “cost per use?” Before I became an Annual Passholder, I was only able to visit the Disneyland park a total of four times, between the ages of 2 and 26. It was a really big deal for my family to be able to take me and my sister on a vacation like that. After I moved to Florida, I went to Magic Kingdom and Epcot for my honeymoon - and instantly knew I wanted to visit more!
In steps the Walt Disney World Annual Pass.
With several options available, it's important to understand the different tiers and what the benefits, including pros and cons are, for each option. You will want to choose the one that best fits your needs, frequency of visiting, length of stay, and total cost, including travel costs. Drawing from my experience as a multi-tier Annual Passholder, here's a comprehensive breakdown to guide your decision.
Annual Pass - Live The Magic, All Year Long!
Here is a list of all of the Disney World Annual Passes prices, their perks and benefits, their pros and cons, and estimation of when you will “get your money’s worth” as far as cost per use goes. I have personally been a Pirate Pass and a Sorcerer’s Pass Annual Passholder. If you happen to choose a pass that doesn’t suit you well, Disney will let you upgrade, but not downgrade, assuming an upgrade is available at the time you request it. Also, please keep in mind that financing with a down payment, if available, is permitted for new passes only - beyond that, you will have to renew in person, in the parks, and put a down payment to lower your monthly payments. After the first year, if financing is available to you, it will be for 100% of the financed amount.
Note: All Annual Pass Options exclude activities and/or events; they are separately priced. Pass types, entitlements, and prices are subject to change without notice. Passes are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

With 5 reservations days and no blockout dates, the magic is at your fingertips with the Incredi-Pass. Alternately, if you are an out-of-state resident and not a DVC member, but definitely want a Disney World Annual Pass, then this is your only choice!
Break-Even Point:
At an average ticket price of $160, the Incredi-Pass pays for itself after about 10 visits.
So, as you can see, there are several options available to suit many needs. There is a lot more flexibility for Florida residents, but I’ve met many dedicated passholders from around the country who make their annual or quarterly trips to the parks. If you’re also a DVC member, then at least your hotel arrangements will be easy to manage!
If you’re planning on going to the parks more than 3-5 days in one calendar year, I would suggest looking into getting an Annual Pass. Not only do you get extra perks like an easier reservation experience and discount in the parks, but the resorts often run promotions that can be 15-35% off of your hotel stay, depending on the location and the time of year.
So many reasons to be a part of the Mickey Mouse family!
