Planning Today for Visiting the City of Tomorrow
Welcome to the Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow - or, EPCOT! Walt Disney dreamed of creating a future world filled with vibrant experiences and a connection to people, nature, and technology before he passed. The spirit of Walt Disney's creative legacy lives on in what EPCOT has evolved to today, with it’s ever changing landscape, festivals, and rides.
A Journey Around the World: Your Perfect Day at Epcot
One thing that hasn’t changed since this park opened on October 1st, 1982, is the iconic "Epcot ball", Spaceship Earth, towering into the sky, a symbol of innovation, togetherness, and Walt Disney's creative vision. Epcot is known to be the park that foodies prefer, the Adult Disney, and the place to Drink Around The World. There are some extraordinary rides here, but it's focus tends to be on experiences, including imbibing, and events. So, depending on the party you are traveling with, or if it's a solo trip, and what you intend to do at Epcot, there are very flexible and different ways to spend your day at this park.
A Nostalgic Nod to Yesterday and Tomorrow - the Rides of Epcot
Experience the gentle wonders of fan favorite Living with the Land, where the beauty of nature and sustainable agriculture are presented during a leisurely boat ride filled with educational facts about our environment and sustainability. Or if you are feeling more mischievous, Journey into Imagination with Figment lets your imagination soar with this chaotic attraction, filled with experiments gone wrong, rooms that are hanging upside down, and one of Disney’s most beloved characters - Figment. If you really want a big adventure, big laughs, and even bigger heroes, Guardians of the Galaxy is the ride for you! With six possible songs at launch, the vibe is unique each time you ride it, but the thrill of whirling in the dark, chasing galactic enemies around planets and through portals, is enduring. If you are looking for something in between those two options, Frozen Ever After is a dark boat ride that dances between gentle travels and short but thrilling plunges.
The World Showcase: A Global Adventure
Epcot's World Showcase is a celebration of diverse cultures, bringing the magic of 14 countries and regions to life. From the Aztec inspired architecture of Mexico to the tranquil bamboo gardens of Japan, each pavilion offers a unique and immersive experience.
As you stroll through the cobblestone streets of each "World," you'll find yourself surrounded by authentic architecture, cultural performances, and Cast Members dressed in costumes that transport you across the globe. You may even meet some cast members who are from the world you are visiting, as many participate in an exchange program.
Don't forget to indulge in bite-sized snacks and beverages that capture the essence of each country – a true culinary journey for foodies and imbibers alike. There are many souvenirs and gifts that can only be found in these worlds, so be on the lookout for one-of-a-kind merchandise that you won’t be able to find online or in any other Disney parks, like the Canadian flag Mickey ears.
Shopping Around the World
Explore the enormous Creations Shop for the latest Disney merchandise and exclusive Epcot-themed items. Head to Port of Entry for unique treasures inspired by your global journey. During Epcot's four major festivals – International Flower & Garden Festival, Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, Epcot International Festival of the Arts, and International Festival of the Holidays – discover seasonal offerings and limited-edition merchandise that make for perfect souvenirs and gifts, as well as unique bites, entertainment, decor and more.
Food, Drinks, and Meaningful Moments
The heart of planning your day at Epcot lies in savoring exquisite food, enjoying refreshing drinks, and creating meaningful memories with friends and family. Epcot invites you to explore, taste, and connect with the world.
Space 220 offers a truly unique dining experience, which starts with a pre-show before your reservation where you "blast off" and rise 220 miles above Florida to dine in a floating space station, complete with astronauts gliding through space form the gigantic viewport stretching along the restaurant. You can enjoy creative drinks that are topped with pop rocks, and taste truly delectable dishes that really are out-of-this-world. Reservations are highly recommended starting at 60 days prior to departure... er, your date of arrival. There is a bar at Space 220 that doesn't require reservations, and is filled on a first-come, first serve basis.
In Walt Disney's final creative effort, Epcot was envisioned as a place of innovation, inspiration, and unity. As you travel the park, take a moment to appreciate the legacy that has evolved into the Epcot we know and love today – a testament to the enduring magic of Walt Disney's imagination.
So raise a glass and toast to a day filled with the extraordinary magic of Epcot!
